UX-UI
Overview
As part of my degree, I was asked to create an application that solves problems in human environments without the need for human interaction. I chose to focus on the world of diving, which traditionally relies on human interaction to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
01
//The main goal
The main goal is to make diving more accessible by offering an alternative to needing a guide or preliminary maps, which helps lower costs and promotes personal safety.
02
//Question
How can we help people dive safer and discover the best of the sea during a single dive?
03
//Research Approach
To better understand the pain points and unmet needs of potential customers, I decided to dive into internet research to learn about my competition, assess the current market, and identify how I can stand out as a new brand.
04
//The goals for my research
-
To explore and identify patterns in the characterization and reuse of elements in existing applications.
-
To identify pain points and unmet needs that users face when using similar apps."
Overview
I created a user questionnaire that was completed by over 60 people from the diving community to investigate their problems and desires.

60%
Testified that they dive at least 6 times a year
Answered that they have underwater binoculars
Fear of incorrect underwater navigation may prevent reaching the destination.
They said they don’t know enough about underwater animals and want to learn more.

90%
reported having more than 5 years of diving experience
Answered that they are diving without a guide
Testified that they have a dive computer
Testified that it is necessary to save the data of the last dive
After completing independent diving training, I realized that I still needed a guide for diving. This is the challenge I want to address.

WHY LUMINU?
Guiding Questions
01
What kind of diving experience a user is looking for?
02
Which format seems the most intuitive to users for early access before getting into the water?
03
What safety and learning features will the user find most valuable?
Target Users
The target audience of the application is divided into two main groups

Diving instructors
Primary User
High frequency divers

Live near the sea

Tourists
Secondary User
do not dive regularly

Extreme lovers
After my research, I started interviewing users to create an optional sample user persona.

About-Tom Michaeli
Tom, a 29-year-old married Ph.D. student in International Cultures, recently graduated with a master’s degree. He enjoys going out on weekends and hosting gatherings in his new apartment. Though he’s always wanted to learn more about cocktails and the cultural significance of alcoholic drinks, his busy schedule has made it challenging. He needs an accessible, straightforward app that combines his interests in alcohol and cultural exploration.

What did we learn?
We’ve learned that while the current diving models offer an interesting experience, they do not provide precise solutions for modern divers. Today, divers seek independence in their dives, but they also prioritize safety. The technological advancements in recent years have opened the door to a new, more engaging platform that can emphasize the most important aspects of diving —
safety, satisfying curiosity, memory retention, and gaining additional knowledge.
This insight has given me a clear direction for developing the design and visual elements of the application, bringing together all these key points to create a truly unique platform for divers.
01
User flow
Recognizing that users will interact with the application before their dive, where time constraints are critical, I developed two user flows. The first flow enables users to create a new dive by setting their preferences, while the second flow allows them to select a previous dive from their history.

02
Sketches
To enhance the user experience of the cocktail app, I created initial sketches focused on designing an interface that meets users' needs. My primary goal was to make the app visually appealing, intuitive, and easy to navigate, so users can efficiently discover cocktails and learn about their cultural stories.

The app is ready
I developed an innovative app that combines mobile technology with augmented reality (AR) to enhance the diving experience. The system offers real-time marine navigation through the diving mask, making underwater exploration easier, more engaging, and safer.

The app provides a user-friendly interface for selecting routes to various maritime areas. Detailed maps and route options are displayed, allowing users to choose based on their current location or preferred diving spot.

Once a route is selected, the app generates a unique barcode with the route data.

The scanning process ensures accurate and quick data transfer, synchronizing the mask with the selected route information.

Additional pages summarizing all dive data
After completing the dive, users can view photos taken with the mask's built-in camera, as well as their dive log, in the app. This comprehensive approach to navigation and record keeping ensures a safe and enjoyable diving experience for users and preservation of memory and diving skills.
