Learning Outcomes
Approaching the research
Insights gained from interviews and secondary research guided the design process and revealed user needs that I hadn’t thought of.
The importance of early experimentation
I learned how crucial it is to come up with additional options, especially in the initial planning and formulation stages. Testing different ideas and layouts early on allowed me to identify the most effective design solutions.
Refining the app structure
With the structure of my app, early experimentation helped refine the navigation, design, and overall user experience.

User research
// As living costs are high, people increasingly prefer to stay home with friends. However, a lack of knowledge about alcoholic beverages and cocktails makes it challenging to recreate their favorite bar or restaurant cocktails at home
My research indicates that many people lack basic knowledge about cocktails, which prevents them from hosting gatherings and creating enjoyable at-home experiences
Insights
// Clear and simple recipes: Users prefer recipes that are straightforward and easy to follow, valuing an efficient approach without extra steps or unnecessary complications
// Lack of experience: Most users are unfamiliar with cocktail names, flavors, and the correct proportions needed to create them.
// Cultural connection: Users are interested in understanding the origins of the beverages they prepare and how a drink's geographical origin influences its taste.
01
User flow
The app offers an efficient, straightforward route from the home page to the final recipe. Users quickly enter the selection process, which narrows down options to a detailed cocktail recipe. This efficient approach ensures users achieve their goal of learning how to make cocktails and exploring their cultural origins without any unnecessary steps.

02
Sketches
To enhance the user experience of the cocktail app, I created initial sketches focused on designing an interface that meets users' needs. My primary goal was to make the app visually appealing, intuitive, and easy to navigate, so users can efficiently discover cocktails and learn about their cultural stories.

03
Sketches Wireframes
After the initial sketches, wireframes were created to enhance the app’s user experience.
At this stage, text was added to provide users with clear instructions, facilitating easy navigation of the pages before the design phase. While working with the wireframes, it became evident that design changes were necessary to better support the enriching aspect, making it easier for users to learn about cocktails and their origins.
